What is JobsNow?

JobsNow is an innovative pilot program to help Ontario Works participants find employment and achieve financial independence. The Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services is piloting this employment placement and extended job retention service with its municipal partners in six municipalities across the province. The program is targeted to job seekers who have been referred by their Ontario Works caseworker and provides a free human resources solution to employers.

How does JobsNow work?

JobsNow services include job placement assistance and ongoing job retention support. This support may include:

  • personalized career coaching
  • resume writing
  • employment clinics
  • job interview preparation
  • ongoing support for up to 18 months.

The ongoing job retention support offered by JobsNow may include:

  • counseling
  • issues resolution
  • assistance with continuing developmental
  • advice on job advancement
  • placement in alternative employment as required.

How and where will JobsNow be delivered?

The essence of JobsNow is our community-based model delivered in six municipalities throughout Ontario. These include Hamilton, Ottawa, Windsor, Nipissing, Peel Region and Durham. We look forward to working with local Chambers of Commerce across the province to successfully deliver this program.

Who will JobsNow work in partnership with to find jobs?

JobsNow enjoys a strategic partnership with the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, which markets JobsNow to its 300 corporate members, 160 member chambers and over 57,000 business members.

What type of ongoing support will JobsNow participants receive?

  • JobsNow is a FREE solution to assist Ontario Works participants to find and keep jobs.
  • To serve participants and employers with excellence, the JobsNow Monitoring Team follows up on every job placement.
  • Our Employer Solutions Team works with employers to ensure satisfaction.
  • Our Customer Solutions Team ensures top service to participants, employers, partners and the community.

What services are available to employers involved with JobsNow?

JobsNow is a FREE hiring solution for all Ontario businesses that want to hire screened, job-ready people. Endorsed by the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, JobsNow is an exciting, employer-friendly program that helps businesses find and retain the right employees. JobsNow employer services include:

  • hiring needs assessment
  • free listing of job orders on our exclusive online JobsNow database
  • screening of candidates
  • skills assessments
  • interviews for qualifications and attitude
  • hiring support and free HR advice
  • post-placement support.

Who will deliver the extended job retention services for the JobsNow pilot?

The Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services has contracted WCG International HR Solutions to deliver employment placement and extended job retention services for the JobsNow pilot. WCG, named Business of the Year in 2004 by the Business Examiner, is Canada's 9th largest HR consulting firm (National Post FP500). It was also named by BC Business magazine as a Top 50 Up and Coming BC Company, and the 6th Best Company to Work For in BC.

How can I be referred to JobsNow?

Because JobsNow is a pilot program, participants are being randomly identified for referral to JobsNow through Ontario Works.
